The fiercely competitive nature of the construction industry and indifference for ethics of some in the industry has contributed to the adoption of unacceptable and, at times, illegal practices by these people. The wrongdoings of these people will certainly damage the public perception of the industry and may even undermine the public's confidence on the industry.
As an authoritative and influential voice on issues affecting the industry, Hong Kong Construction Association has an obligation to take a leading role to help reform the industry and resolve and enhance public confidence.
This Commitment Paper, signed by the President of HKCA on 20 September 2000, is an undertaking for Members of HKCA to accept a set of values to uphold and implement actions considered crucial to the ongoing development of an effective industry.
